Hi everybody
As I said in the last blog, something else did not go to plan last week... with all the MAXRaft in and the pipes for underfloor laid, Gav started to go over the MAXRaft steel plans for the foundation, he quickly noticed that there was a difference in the plan from the MAXRaft Insulaton plan to the Steel plan and there was what looked to be some bracing insulation missed. So another call to MAXRaft to find all the engineers were on annual leave that Friday but luckily the lady who delt with my call pulled up the file and agreed there was definately something wrong with the map they sent us to piece together the precut insulation. The office lady said she would sort it and get back to us... Meanwhile I am quietly freaking out as deep down I know the piping would have to be lifted up the polystyrene taken out and replaced in that part, as we have an inspection booked!
MAXRaft got back to us pretty quickly with the new map and we managed to just raise the piping enough to get the poly out. So we didnt have to pull to much up or disconnect it at all. Gav cut the poly insulation to the map and used some spare left over high density poly for the areas we needed, Gav hand pushed the staples back in for the piping (as the staple gun was hired from Ed and he lives a couple of hours away) and clean up the mess.
So catastrophie avoided, as if the steel had been done aswell we would have had the inspector making us pull all the steel out to do everything. Gav only ended up spending about 3 hours sorting it out. I was incharge of clearing up all the floating polystirene baubles floating around...What a mess they make!
Then as you all are fully aware lockdown came apon us... But we are not bored as we had all the steel here ready and waiting so we have been putting the steel in place and let me just tell you it confirms that I definately do not want a career change to become a steel worker. I take my hat off to all you lot that carry 6 mt lengths of steel mesh about and tie steel all day every day! I only did just over a quarter of the steel tieing and my fingers were sore and I wore thick gloves. I also now an the proud owner of a number of bruises on my arm and shoulder from helping Gav carry the steel mesh yesterday, but at least I am not bored and the weather has not been too bad.

Gav is finishing off tieing the steel today and then I will help him put the spacers under the steel. This means we will be ready for council inspection when lock down is over. Council may well be behind but we will be ready for them when they are!
